Hello to all. As i talked about in my last post i said i was gonna go for a bit of a wander at night with my camera for a change. Something i used to to a lot but just hadnt found the time for, for a while.

well, i did, and it was really cool and refreshing as well as a bit challenging as i seem to have misplaced my tripod. I just had to just had to look for things to rest the camera on, or just rely on keeping as still as i could since i would be shooting without flash at night and just hoping there would be some good light, from the moon and stars or street light. Anyway, i found some cool interesting images and found a few things im definitely going to go back and shoot once i find my bleedin tripod.

Right, heres a few i took.

quite boring but i like how you can see the brighter sky to the left. Thats newcastle. 4min exsposure with the camera resting on a wall A bowling green. I loved the lights on this building so i took a few.      this is actually photoshopped. there were some lights on in the window to the right that i didnt like so i got rid of them.   i really liked the tiny bit of light cast onto the tree in this one. very subtle.

Well yes thats it. After this little trip out im definitely gonna get back into my night photography. Look out for further posts of stuff like this.

Im going to hartlepool with a friend on Thursday to photograph a chemical waste land. Dont get to say that too often but its true ha ha. Should get some awesome shots… if my shoes dont melt or i get cancer before we leave, but anyway, i’ll get some images of that up soon.

laters peoples.

Hello again. Just a very breif post for today.

Ive just discovered the Photography of Jessica Dimmock. She completed a 2 year long documentary project in 2006 entitled ‘The Ninth Floor’ and it really is an unreal project. The project centers around a group of heroin users in New York and the place they live in. check out this amazing video that showcases many of the photos. So beautiful

Im feeling particularly inspired today so i think im gonna go out later tonight and do something i havnt done in a long time. Take some photos… FOR MYSELF, instead of for others. I’ll post the fruits of my labours in a day or so.

Enjoy the vid.

God, what a useless bastard i am. Its been a long time and i apologise in advance to the 10 people tho look at this thing. Ive just been pretty busy with personal life type things and havnt really been sat down long enough to actually post anything which does actually take a while believe it or not.

However, i have been busy with drawing and photographing when ive had a spare minute. So, im gonna blast loads of stuff up now to make up for lost time.

The main reason i was away for so long was because i had a gig under my ~~~ name (you’ll find a link in my blog roll), which i mentioned in a post a while ago. I always get very nervous and like to spend a lot of time practising when i have a gig in the pipeline. I like to be meticulous about what im going to play down to the very last note so it ends up consuming a huge amount of time. But, it went well and i enjoyed the whole night massively. The other people i played with were absolutely unbelievable as well. Mass (who i have some photos of on this blog) and Richard Dawson (www.myspace.com/richardmdawson)  just tore the roof off.

And as an added bonus, a new aquainetence of mine, Mr David Float of musicfilmbroth.com came down and filmed all 3 bands sets for your viewing pleasure. Unfortunatly wordpress wont let me post videos on here so you’ll have to go to the website and look for them. Theyre fairly easy to find. Just go to www.musicfilmbroth.com and there about half ways down the front page.

Please turn this up and try and forget about the talking in the backround. The audio was recorded from the back of the room near the bar… cant have it all can you.

Enjoy

So, that over with, i was finally able to get on with some more visual stuff in the form of a new drawing which i finished the other day. I like this one. Its alot more solid than a couple of others ive done and a lot more balanced but i’ll let you be the judge of that.

Ive also arranged to get a stall to try and sell some of these at a local arts and craft market in July. Its an awesome event with local handmade things that cover a huge variety of styles and mediums, from Photography, to clothing and art, to cakes and jewelry. I think its gonna be a good one and hopefully i’ll sell a few prints.

Now, on the photography side of things, ive been commisioned by a band called Supercharger to take a whole portfolio of pictures for them which is really cool. Im to photograph a few gigs as well as do some promo shots, coupled with some documentary stuff of them in the studio. Ive already shot one gig which i’ll post a handfull of pics from below and im due to do some ‘in the studio’ shots tommorow sometime which should be a lot of fun.

So, thats it for now. Hopefully my next post wont take 3 weeks this time. hope you’ve enjoyed it.

peace out

At last… the weather seems to be getting better. Ive just spent the weekend in Durham, seeing my mum coz she hasnt been that well recently. It was awesome being back and having a few home comforts for a change. I met up with my old mate Al as well in Durham and it was actually hot. That makes me pretty excited coz i cant wait for the summer to get here.

Right, onto something visual. I want to show you something i found in the guardian magazine by the amazing David Shrigley (http://www.davidshrigley.com/) Ive liked his stuff for a long time but this one really got me. I think its become my new favourite doodle/peice of art ever.

I cut it out and stuck it in my sketch/idea/inspiration book which if youve noticed ive made a page for on the right hand side. I take it everywhere just incase i get a little visual idea or i find something that i really like and would like to keep.

Its in this book that i did this. I did while i was on a plane to barcelona last year. Just thought id post it up here to keep things interesting.

Well im back from a nice little break. Had an awesome few days just chillin and hangin out. Met up with my good friend Mackie (who also does the A Bin a Day blog in my blog roll list) yesterday. He was back in the home lands for a few days so we met up before he headed back up to scotland. It was awesome just to have a good talk about photography and old times and a veggie burger was also involved which was delectable.

I went to see Equus (http://www.equustheplay.com/)  on wednesday as well with my girlfriend. We’d been looking forward to it for a while and it was amazing. Aside from the obvious amazing acting skills i was really into just the asthetics of the whole thing. The lighting and music especially. It really got my heart beating. All credit to Alfie Allen as well.

well, since i havnt really made anything to upload the last few days im gonna put up some older stuff just to keep you interested. These are from a project i did at Uni where i stayed awake for 3 days, taking a self portrait every 9 hours. Needless to say… it was hard.

Shot in my bedroom on a Nikon F100 with Fuji pro 160c – 135asa Film with a singular central studio light.

As i promised yesterday i said id upload a pic of a Biro drawing ive been doing for a friend. He loves all kinds of different styles of art but he especially loves stuff with detail, so i said id make sure this one had plenty.

This one is A3. 19 hours from start to finish and i went through 3 brand new Biros. I would usually sell something like this for about £120 (framed) but im gonna give it to my mate for £60. Enjoy it dude.

Today i also made a quick flyer for a gig im playing on the 14th of April with Mass the band i took some shots of in the practise room a little while ago. Its gonna be a good one. I havnt played in my ~~~ monika for a while now so it’ll be good to just have a good old drone session.

Apologies for the delay on my 2nd post. Flu has struck me down so me and my girlfriend decided to just go to bed for 3 days. And after that… im no better. Ah well, it was worth a try.

Got some photos from a gig i attended before my stint in hibernation. Awesome band from glasgow. PVH (http://www.myspace.com/projectvenhell) and the filthy bastards that are Scrabo (http://www.myspace.com/scrabo)
